A caravan master who plies the overland routes of the Azure Plains.
Haram al-Barazem was a caravan master who plied the overland routes between Port Chalmers and the northeasterly desert cities beyond the Azure Plains. His trade took a hit once Port Chalmers disappeared; the trade routes to the southern river and coastal cities remained open (albeit with a new northern terminus), but all trade with the Harrowby Hills and lands beyond is now conducted by riverboat. The new primacy of riverboats along the upper Nieda has cut into Haram’s once profitable business of selling textiles to the Harrowby dwarf mines. Haram knows that if he can build a new overland route to the north, he can make immense profits and cut out the riverboat companies entirely. With that goal in mind, he has come to the old site of Port Chalmers to recruit what help he can.
