Krynwall is located in a semicircular valley bounded by terrace-like cliffs at the mouth of the Halrahzi River, which runs through the Escul Desert. The valley is large enough to support enough agriculture to feed a small city, but Krynwall imports the bulk of its grain. The cliff formations are important sources of iron, copper, and zinc for the Southern Coast, so this is a sustainable arrangement.
Krynwall does not have much trade apart from its raw materials. The city does not maintain a navy; it relies on a naval alliance with Anshun.
